Program Information
Are you looking for a stable career with room for advancement? Our programs in School Facilities Management will prepare you for management positions in primary and secondary school buildings and grounds. Developed at the request of, and in cooperation with, the New York State Association for Superintendents of School Buildings and Grounds, both the one-year certificate and two-year degree provide the knowledge and skills you need to be effective and efficient in decision-making and equipped to stay abreast of critical issues in an ever-changing environment.
Upon completion of the two-year program, students should be competent in all of the following areas:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse technical team
- Ability to present technical materials via discussion
- Ability to apply and implement basic technical concepts and industry practices
- Application of the latest energy savings technology
- Ability to maintain and coordinate building maintenance and improvements
- Utilization of basic principles and resources in the development of solutions to technical challenges
- Information literacy

Transfer options
- Graduates of the degree program can transfer to Empire State College
- The certificate does not transfer
