How to Calculate Your Grade Point Average (GPA)
Your grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted.
1. Convert letter grades to numerical points (A=4.0, B+=3.33, B=3.0, C+=2.33, C=2.0,
D+=1.33, D=1.0, F=0)
2. Multiply the points by the course credits
3. Add up all the points and
4. Divide the sum by the total attempted credits
For example, a 3-credit B (3.0 pts) plus a 4-credit A (4.0 pts) equals 3.57 GPA.
Grades of “I” (Incomplete) and “W” (Withdrawal) do not receive grade points and do not affect the GPA.
