Program information

If you’re looking to gain skills for successful employment in a variety of office settings, our Administrative Assistant degree or certificate program is for you! Experience a hands-on approach to learn the necessary background in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, business communications, and office administration so you can become an ideal job candidate or start your career in business. The courses you’ll take, including the option of an internship, will give you the tools to explore the industry and eventually move up the ladder.

Administrative Assistant AAS degree

The two-year degree program will prepare you to transfer to a four-year program or for positions in technologically advanced offices. One High School Mathematics Course or its equivalent is recommended.

Upon completion of the two-year program, students should be competent in all of the following areas:

  • Preparation for positions in technologically advanced offices or transfer to another degree program
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and interact with a diverse business population 
  • Effective communication
  • Ability to analyze and solve business problems and use computers as a problem-solving tool
  • Understanding of world-wide issues related to business
  • Ability to use word processing, database/spreadsheet, business communications, and presentation software to create effective office documents
  • Information literacy using traditional and contemporary information technology and the ability to identify, access, and appropriately use authoritative sources of information

Administrative Assistant Certificate

The nine-month certificate program will prepare you for entry-level positions with the skills to draft, edit, produce, store, and retrieve office documents, as well as a background in business communications and office administration.
