ATI TEAS Exam information
All students who wish to be considered for a seat in our Nursing program are required to take the ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, which is designed to assess your preparedness for entering the field of nursing. Higher scores correlate with a higher probability of success in the program. We require a minimum adjusted individualized total score of 58.7 on the ATI TEAS to be considered for the program. Your score, along with prerequisite course grades, will determine your ranking for admission. You can find more information at the ATI Testing website.
It is important to do well on this exam, as students who score higher on the ATI TEAS in comparison to other applicants will be more favorably considered for admission into the Nursing program. ATI Testing does offer various study packages for a cost; however, you are not obligated to use these materials. Study guides can readily be found at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and through internet searches. MVCC does not endorse specific study materials.
ATI Exam Cost: Exam costs vary by testing option and location of testing. Cost of testing through MVCC is currently $102 (please note cost is subject to change).
Exam format and subject matter
The ATI TEAS is comprised of 170 questions in a multiple-choice format with four-option answers. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of reading, math, science, and English and language usage. The exam takes about 3.5 hours to complete.
