Reaching Greater Heights

Campus Enhancements

We take pride in our beautiful campuses in Utica and Rome. As MVCC continues to grow and emerge as a model of transformational learning and development of the regional workforce, we need to enhance and expand some campus facilities to fully support the endeavors of MVCC students, faculty, and staff — now and in the future.

Advanced Manufacturing Training Center and Equipment

The renovation and expansion of the Science and Technology Building at our Utica Campus will enhance our ability to provide the growing advanced manufacturing and semiconductor sectors with a highly skilled workforce using industrial-grade training equipment that mirrors the private sector. The new Science and Technology Building, with its state-of-the-art labs and equipment, will address major workforce gaps in enduring and emerging STEM fields and will have an extensive impact on students in the science and technology fields, employer partners, incumbent workers, apprentices, and pre-apprentices.

Library

The Library at our Utica Campus is a quiet, welcoming space for MVCC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Upgrades and the creation of collaborative spaces for students will allow us to transform the Library into a more attractive, efficient, and flexible study and research space, providing more opportunities for inviting and comfortable areas for creativity, collaboration and individual study.

Enhancing and expanding campus facilities will allow us to fully support the endeavors of MVCC students, faculty and staff - now and in the future.

Athletic Facilities

For more than 75 years, MVCC student-athletes have made our community proud, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. New athletic facilities would allow for vastly expanded public use of MVCC’s outdoor facilities and would position the college to attract national and regional competitions. This project will improve the quality of the students experience at MVCC, encourage more students to stay local after high school, and attract more students from outside the county and state to live and study in the Mohawk Valley. It will also have an impact on the youth of Oneida County by providing a much-needed resource for underserved young people to connect to community and their peers while building their skills.

Dental Hygiene

In response to a regional workforce crisis in the dental health industry, MVCC will relaunch the Dental Hygiene program by establishing an on-campus training clinic at the Rome Campus. The program will include a 25-seat clinical training lab with the ability to onboard 30 students per year and a ramp capacity of providing training to 60 students concurrently. The program will provide an estimated 240 to 360 hours of free dental services to community members each week. Staff will also coordinate a series of service projects on-campus as well as in schools, community centers, and nursing homes.

To further support this program, the MVCC Foundation will look to establish a new scholarship fund to support MVCC Dental Hygiene students. The scholarship will be available to both incoming and returning students, providing funding for tuition, books, fees, and other education expenses related to the program. This scholarship coupled with federal, and state financial aid will help remove financial barriers, and ensure accessibility and equity for students.

"MVCC has been a great start to my career in the welding industry. I graduated in 2018 with my AOS degree, and within two weeks I already had a welding position in a local shop in Utica, Metal Solutions Inc. This April will be my five-year anniversary working there, and ever since my career has been stellar."
