Parking and Vehicle Registration

Mohawk Valley Community College is designated, as private property and the use of the roadways and parking areas are a privilege restricted to persons who have a direct relationship with the College. In order to enhance safety on campus, all vehicles on the Mohawk Valley Community College campus must be properly insured, registered, and inspected.

Parking Sticker: Faculty, staff, part-time or full- time students on either campus taking College classes who intend to park on campus property must be registered with the Department of Public Safety and properly display a current official parking decal. Complete information on the vehicle registration process and parking is available by contacting the Department of Public Safety at 315-792-5566. To obtain a parking decal, you must have the registration for the vehicle being parked on campus and your student I.D. card. The decal is to be affixed inside the rear-most driver’s side window. There is no fee associated with acquiring this decal, and multiple vehicles may be registered to you.

Accessible ADA Parking: Violation of handicapped parking is treated seriously. Unauthorized vehicles found illegally parked in a space designated for disabled persons’ vehicles, may be issued a traffic citation and/or towed at the owner’s expense.

MVCC Parking Tickets: MVCC parking tickets are issued when necessary. Fines for MVCC parking tickets are to be paid to the Business Office either in person or by mail. Mail a check or money order payable to MVCC. The responsibility for receipt of payments rests with the violator, if mailed in, and failures to comply will double the fine. If a violation is felt to be unjust, the violator has the right to appeal against the citation. Appeal forms are available in the Public Safety Office and must be submitted to that office within ten (10) days from the date of the violation.

Disabled Vehicle: If a vehicle becomes disabled, i.e., a flat tire or an engine problem, the Department of Public Safety should be notified of the problem. The department should be given a timeframe of when the vehicle will be repaired and will decide how long to allow the vehicle to remain inoperable on campus.  If a vehicle is on the campus, is not registered with the college, and the Department of Public Safety has not been notified of the disrepair, the department may consider the vehicle abandoned and take appropriate steps, i.e., ticketed for all night parking and towed.

All Night Parking

To receive a pass for overnight parking, the driver of the vehicle must contact the
Department of Public Safety.  An overnight guest of a Residence Hall student should inform the RA on Duty at the time of check in that their car will be on-campus overnight.
