With a minimum contribution of $10,000, donors may choose to establish a named scholarship to honor themselves, a loved one, or support students in a particular program they are passionate about.
A $10,000 contribution can create a non-endowed scholarship, which is available to students for a limited duration and is awarded until the funds have been exhausted.
A $15,000 contribution can create an endowed scholarship, a permanent fund where only the earnings are available to be awarded. The principal amount endowed is decided by the donor and those funds remain intact.
Donors who create a scholarship are allowed to dictate the criteria for the scholarship, with the approval of the Executive Director. However, when it is time to select the scholarship recipient, that is handled by MVCC’s Scholarship selection committee, which meets on a bi-annual basis.
Individuals interested in setting up a named scholarship may contact MVCC’s Executive Director Deanna Ferro-Aurience via email or by phone at (315) 792-5555.
