At Mohawk Valley Community College, our employee enrichment programming is designed
to create a supportive and vibrant environment for all employees. Our goal is to provide
diverse opportunities for every individual to grow both personally and professionally.
By investing in our faculty and staff, we enhance their professional competence and
overall satisfaction, while demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement.
Enrichment Institutes
Enrichment Institutes offer professional development and personal enrichment events
at regular intervals throughout the academic year. Faculty and staff, along with occasional
external speakers, lead workshops and training opportunities that cover topics relevant
to the College’s work, creative thinking, problem solving, communication, and overall
wellness. This program fosters a relaxed atmosphere for colleagues to share their
expertise, talents, and learn from each other.

New Employee Orientation
The New Employee Orientation (NEO) at MVCC provides a welcoming and informative introduction
to the College’s preferred culture. Designed to foster face-to-face connections, the
program offers opportunities for new employees to get to know each other in a relaxed
and enjoyable setting. Participants learn about the College's Core Values, DEI efforts,
and their own Gallup Strengths themes. The orientation also features a panel of long-time
employees, known as Culture Keepers, who share their MVCC experiences during a facilitated
conversation with the president, creating a warm, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere.
New Faculty Experience
The New Faculty Experience (NFE) is a two-year program designed to support new full-time
faculty at Mohawk Valley Community College. This extended orientation and learning
community helps faculty transition into the college's teaching and learning culture.
Participants meet bi-monthly for faculty development workshops, discussions on teaching
and learning, and to build essential relationships with colleagues. Additionally,
participants are encouraged to take advantage of resources from the new Center for
Inclusive Teaching Excellence (CITE) and actively engage in a broader dialogue with
their faculty peers.
Core Workshop
Core Workshops bring the entire college community together to share information and
reaffirm our collective commitment to important ideas, values, and topics. These workshops
focus on subjects that impact every aspect of the college community, aiming to raise
awareness among faculty and staff, foster collaboration, and appreciate our individual
roles and daily contributions. Through these interactions, we seek to strengthen relationships
and build a more positive, inclusive community at MVCC.
Data Summit
The Data Summit at MVCC is an annual event for all faculty and staff, established
in 2015. This event provides an opportunity to focus on institutional data, fostering
cross-divisional dialogue and exploration. By bringing together various departments,
the Data Summit aims to enhance understanding and collaboration through the analysis
and discussion of key data, supporting informed decision-making and continuous improvement
across the college.
Supervisors’ Training
Supervisors' Training is a required program for all supervisors at the college. This
comprehensive program includes six core modules and additional elective sessions designed
to share best practices and resources. The training focuses on equipping supervisors
with the tools to create strong relationships with their employees, build successful
teams, and foster a collegial and collaborative environment. Through this program,
supervisors will enhance their leadership skills and contribute to a positive and
productive workplace culture.

Mohawk Valley Community College is a Strengths-based institution, integrating Gallup’s
CliftonStrengths across both student and employee experiences. Rooted in positive
psychology, the CliftonStrengths assessment helps individuals identify and develop
their natural talents, fostering personal and professional growth.
For employees, Strengths provides a shared vocabulary that enhances collaboration,
improves communication, and helps create more effective teams. By focusing on what
people do best, MVCC cultivates a workplace culture that values individual strengths,
encourages engagement, and drives success. Whether in the classroom or the workplace,
embracing Strengths helps us support one another and work together more productively.
