After 2024's Ted Moore race, the Run/Walk Committee, family and MVCC community made the difficult decision to bring the race to a conclusion. The legacy of the race has been three-fold. It has allowed us to educate the community on the dangers of drinking and driving, endow the Ted Moore Memorial scholarship, and increasing the amount we are able to award to winning students annually.
We are grateful to Ted's family, the Run/Walk Committee, and surrounding community for its support for the last 28 years. In an effort to continue to educate the community on the dangers of drinking and driving, we will send an email annually, highlighting the students selected for the scholarship. Please read about this year's winners.
Alina Akhtyrsky, Nursing
"I have had the privilege of teaching Alina in both theory and clinical settings in the Fundamentals of Nursing course. Throughout our time together, Alina has consistently demonstrated outstanding qualities that I believe will make her a successful and compassionate nurse. Alina is a kind, empathetic, and hardworking individual who is always willing to go the extra mile. She shows a genuine passion for caring for others, which is evident in her clinical work as well as in the volunteer activities she participates in."
Jacob Ezzo, Business Administration/Engineering Science
"Jacob has demonstrated a high work ethic by rarely missing class, never missing an assignment, as well as consistently engaging with the material by answering questions during class. Outside of the classroom, he has worked exceptionally hard at a variety of activities, including working as assistant manager at TOPS grocery store, participating in several difficult advanced study courses while in high school, volunteering with National and Spanish Honors Societies, and always challenging himself to learn more."
Gustavo Nunes, Business Administration and Accounting
"One of Gustavo's most impressive qualities is his ability to quickly learn new tasks and adapt to changing circumstances. He is always eager to take on new challenges and is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that tasks are completed to the highest standard. I never wonder if tasks will be completed, as Gustavo not only completes them quickly, but he completes them well."
Tiffany Rickard, Nursing
"During my relationship with Tiffany, I have experienced an individual who shows up earlier than asked, works hard, and carries themselves in a polite, respectable manner. She is also actively involved with the Student Nurse Organization which gives back to our community, works fulltime and volunteers in her school district. I have no doubt she will make her mark in nursing."
