The Mohawk Valley Community College Theater Program and Drama Club will bring fairy tale mischief to the stage with the comedy “Fairy Tale Courtroom,” running Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26, 2025, in Michael I. Schafer Theater within Wilcox Hall at MVCC’s Utica Campus.
Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for the public, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students, and can be purchased online at mvcc.edu/tickets.
Written by Dana Proulx and co-directed by MVCC Assistant Professor Thomas Schink and MVCC student Jayde O’Donnell, “Fairy Tale Courtroom” is a fast-paced, interactive comedy produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. The story shows another side of classic fairy tales as two of the genre’s infamous villains — the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch — stand trial for their misdeeds. Both the Wolf and the Witch have been frolicking from fairy tale to fairy tale, wreaking havoc as they try to prevent people from living happily ever after. As each courtroom drama unfolds, well-known characters including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Dorothy, the Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood take the stand to give their accounts of what happened. The twist? The audience serves as the jury, determining how each trial ends — so no two performances are the same.
