Mohawk Valley Community College faculty once again unite art and poetry in the exhibit “The Lyre and Line: Full Circle,” opening Thursday, March 27, 2025, with a reception at 1 p.m. in the Juergensen Gallery in Wilcox Hall, MVCC Utica Campus. It will be on display through May 2, 2025.

Originally conceived as a way to explore the dynamic relationship between poetry and visual art, “The Lyre and Line” has evolved into an ongoing creative tradition at MVCC. The project, which first began in 2008, continues to thrive thanks to the dedication and passion of faculty in the Schools of Art and Humanities, who work in a highly collaborative environment. Through structured workshops and informal gatherings, they exchange ideas and inspiration, producing deeply interconnected works that reflect a shared artistic vision.

Each iteration of “The Lyre and Line” builds upon previous exhibits, weaving an ever-expanding tapestry of artistic expression where each piece of art and poetry feeds into the next. This year’s title, “Full Circle,” signifies both a return to the project’s roots and its continued evolution. It also recognizes that some artists — who are now adjunct faculty — were students involved in the second “Lyre and Line” exhibit, bringing their journey full circle.
