On Nov. 2, 2022, Mohawk Valley Community College unveiled its new aviation maintenance classroom, sponsored by CommuteAir, a United Express airlines partner, with a ribbon cutting at the MVCC Aviation Training Center, located at 645 Bomber Drive, along the flight line of Griffiss International Airport in Rome.
The classroom sponsorship showcases the successful six-year partnership between CommuteAir and MVCC’s Airframe and Powerplant Technician program, which has resulted in MVCC graduates starting their careers at CommuteAir’s maintenance hangar location in Albany, N.Y., as well as newly opened CommuteAir maintenance bases in Lincoln, Neb., and Denver, Col. CommuteAir also has been a sponsor of MVCC’s student team at the Aerospace Maintenance Competition team for the past five years. This competition provides an opportunity for current and future aviation maintenance professionals to showcase their abilities and compete in maintenance events that test the skills and knowledge required of an aviation maintenance technician.
“CommuteAir and the MVCC Airframe and Powerplant program have had a strong partnership for years, and this classroom sponsorship will help put the level of commitment from both CommuteAir and MVCC in the spotlight for all to witness,” said Walt Constantini, Director of Aviation Programs at MVCC.
“Many highly qualified A&P technicians have graduated from MVCC and started successful careers at CommuteAir,” said Erik Kane, Corporate Communications Manager at CommuteAir. “As part of CommuteAir’s continued sponsorship of the MVCC Aerospace Maintenance Program, we are excited to reveal our new classroom sponsorship project that rightfully cements this partnership!”
