Mohawk Valley Community College will host several sports camps this summer for youth and teens at the College’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive.
Baseball Camp
Designed for boys ages 7 to 15, this camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 18-22. A typical day will include team stretching, throwing progression, defensive position play, hitting, group instruction, and sandlot games with coaches. Campers will be placed in groups based on age. All campers should bring sneakers, a glove, water bottle, and snack. Campers may bring their own bat and helmet. The cost, which includes supplemental camp insurance, is $120 for one camper (family rate available), payable by check to Mohawk Valley Community College Athletics Baseball Camp, 1101 Sherman Drive, Utica, NY 13501. Basketball Camp
Open to boys and girls ages 7 to 18, this camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Aug. 8-10. Campers will work side-by-side with the MVCC Men’s and Women’s Basketball coaching staff to improve their knowledge and build skills in the sport. In addition to basketball fundamentals, the camp will focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, and a low camper-to-coach ratio ensures individual attention for all participants. Campers also will take part in a variety of contests, skill-building stations, and gameplay situations. Softball Camp
Open to ages 8 to 18, the Softball All-Skills Camp will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, July 25-28. The camp will focus on technical and tactical skills, enabling campers to begin preparation for the spring season in a contained, focused, and competitive environment. Day camps feature advanced training techniques and fun, game-related activities for all players, including defensive position play, hitting, pitcher and catcher training, and pickup games. Campers should bring their own sneakers, cleats, glove, helmet, bat, catchers gear, pitchers mask, water bottle, snacks, lunch, and water. The cost of the camp is $120 (family rate available), which includes a camp T-shirt and supplemental camp insurance. A nonrefundable deposit of $45 is required for registration and will be applied to the total fee. Soccer Camp
Designed for boys and girls ages 7 to 15, this camp will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 11-15. The camp will offer technical, individual ball skills, and group and team tactics, with instruction for all ability levels. It is organized into three separate ability divisions for skill, tactics, and game sessions, allowing for maximum skill development and fun for all ages. There also will be camp league games and contests. The cost is $125 per camper (family rate available for three or more campers) and includes a stitched soccer ball and camp T-shirt.
