Mohawk Valley Community College has signed an updated transfer agreement with SUNY Empire State College (ESC) and a new agreement with SUNY Cobleskill. Both agreements will help students who graduate from MVCC transfer seamlessly into a bachelor’s degree program.
The update to the ESC agreement guarantees admission to qualified students who complete any A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree (except Nursing) at MVCC to transfer up to 79 credits. They may also cross-register and take up to 15 additional credits at MVCC. The new agreement also waives ESC’s orientation fee and provides a $100 transfer scholarship.
ESC has more 30 locations across New York, including one in the State Office Building in Downtown Utica. “With a location right here in our backyard, this allows our graduates the potential to continue their education, through online, hybrid, and in-class settings much easier,” said Michael Henningsen, coordinator of MVCC’s University Partners and Transfer Center. “With the flexibility of students being able to tailor their degrees to meet their individual education, career and personal goals, this is truly a win-win not only for graduates of Mohawk Valley Community College, but also for our local community.”
The new agreement with SUNY Cobleskill states that qualified graduates from MVCC’s Graphic Communication: Graphic Design A.A.S. degree program will be guaranteed admission to SUNY Cobleskill’s graphic design technology bachelor’s degree program. Graduates will be able to transfer up to 57 credits, leaving 65 credits that must be completed through SUNY Cobleskill. Students who haven’t met the agreement’s requirements will be considered for admission on an individual basis.
