Learn to Pronounce (Almost) Everything in Mandarin Chinese in Less Than One Hour!

I've been teaching beginning Mandarin Chinese for several years, and what I usually
start with are phonetics and tones for my students. This workshop is designed to introduce
Chinese pronunciations, basic Chinese language elements including character formations,
syntax, cultures, etc. We will also go over some common phrases and tips for continued
learning. At the end of the workshop you will be able to gain a better understanding
of the Chinese language, and (although you may not know what they mean) you will be
able to pronounce (almost) everything in Mandarin Chinese!

SUNY Transfer Partners: Early engagement

The Transfer Partnership is designed to support the transfer pipeline earlier and
with more frequency. The intention is to develop early engagement, access, course
articulation, and advisement to expand the pipeline, improve the admissions and enrollment
process, and time to degree. How can faculty and departmental advisors on both campuses,
in conjunction with the advisor in residence, work to holistically support SUNY seamless
transfer? What are the challenges to course articulation for transfers? How can we
ensure course correlation within majors? Join me in exploring these questions and
developing strategies for students to use in the transfer process!

Empowering Futures: Introducing the Career Transition Program

Pre-Employment Transition Services is a new initiative between Acces-VR, MVCC, and
OHM BOCES which provides practical experiences for students facing barriers to employment. Through
this program we are not only able to establish internships, but we can pay them for
them as well! Additionally we can assist students with other work readiness skills,
self-advocacy, and more to make sure that students are supported throughout their
college experience.

CPR, Acting in an Emergency, & Adult Basic Life Support

This presentation will cover the basics of Adult CPR and what to do in an emergency
medical situation. I will show and demonstrate proper CPR compression depth/rate
and use of an AED. Attendees will also practice doing compressions on a mannequin
during the session. On a college campus, we come across a lot of different situations,
and knowing the proper steps in what to do can help save a life.
