JOURNEYS TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The Science and Technology Entry Program's conference emphasized the importance of planning ahead, being persistent, and staying focused. It stressed themes of student responsibility, academic achievement, leadership skills, internships, communication skills, setting goals, self-esteem, personal success, and preparation for college.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Students 7-12 grades presented fascinating research projects in various categories which included: biological/life sciences, human services, physical sciences, social sciences, technology.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

Stimulating workshops were held such as College Prep 101, Study Yourself before the Books, Making Good Grades and Becoming a Leader, Financial Aid, Playing the Game to Win, Strategies for Approaching the New SAT.

GUEST SPEAKERS

Dr. Kenya F. Ayers spoke on destiny and persistence as the Keynote Address Speaker. A quote she states from Goethe, "Treat people as they are and they remain that way. Treat them as though they are already what they can be and they can become what they are capable of becoming."
