Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Programs
Designed for college students whose majors are in the fields of science, math, engineering, technologies and allied health, CSTEP provides historically underrepresented, economically disadvantaged college students with activities to foster academic excellence and nurture students as they progress through their college study. Activities include specialized tutoring, mentoring, presentations, career exploration, field trips, academic competitions, service projects, internships and workshops.

- Increase awareness and opportunities for historically and economically underrepresented college students:
- In pre–professional or professional undergraduate study
- Majoring in math, science, technology, and health related fields
- Seeking professional licensure
- Be open to a holistic approach to their college experience
- Meet with the CSTEP coordinator at least 3 times per semester to discuss academics, career plans, personal issues, and finances
- Attend all general meetings and at least 2 CSTEP sponsored activities per semester
- Be a self advocate and ask for the services that they need
- Maintain or increase their GPA
- Participate in ‘CSTEP Service Days’
- Obtain a faculty recommendation
- Write an entry essay
- Participate in at least one internship/research project prior to graduation
- Be African/American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Alaskan or economically underrepresented
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent New York State resident
- Be enrolled at MVCC as a full–time student in one of the following major areas:
- Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Construction Trades, Nursing, Health Services, Law, or Secondary Education (Science and Math)
- Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3
