First Steps for Admitted Students

  1. After you have received your acceptance letter from the Admissions Office, be sure to read carefully all of the materials you receive from the college.
  2. Begin checking your MVCC email account (link to the FAQ answer about checking student email) for more important information from the college.
  3. Any student who is requesting financial assistance will need to apply for Financial Aid.
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online, including the section for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) which is the New York State financial aid program, at www.fafsa.ed.gov
    • Complete the MVCC Financial Aid Data Form

  4. Those students who are interested in possibly living in on-campus housing should contact the Housing Office as soon as possible as there are a limited number of available rooms.

  6. All incoming students must take Placement Tests unless they can provide proof of earned college credits or AP scores. Students cannot schedule classes without placement testing, so students should try to take them soon after they are admitted.
  7. After students have taken their placement test, they will be scheduled an appointment to meet individually with an advisor in Academic Advisement to select courses.
