Head Coach David Warren

Dave WarrenCoach Warren took over in 2001 as the skipper of the MVCC Baseball program. Mr. Warren has been a full time employee of MVCC since December of 1997 as the Assistant to the Director of Athletics. A native of Mohawk N.Y. Dave was a three sport athlete at Gregory B. Jarvis High School excelling in football and baseball, earning All-League honors in both sports. Coach Warren is one of only a select few athletes from the school to ever be named as a baseball All-Star for three consecutive years. Coach Warren moved on to Herkimer CCC to play for former MVCC Coach Joe Milazzo. While with the Generals Coach Warren ammassed a two-year batting average of .357 as a leadoff hitter and centerfielder to go along with All-Region and All New York State JUCO honors. He was also nominated as an Academic All-American while being named as HCCC's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year with a 3.81 grade point average. Dave finished his career at SUNY Cortland where he earned a degree in Physical Education to go along with a Management minor and a Coaching concentration. Coach Warren was named as the Region III and Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2004. He resides in Mohawk N.Y. with his wife Amy, son Tanner, and daughter Farah.

Assistant Coach: John Fureno

John FurenoAssistant Coach John Fureno joined the MVCC Baseball Coaching Staff in 2007. Mr. Fureno is currently employed as an elementary school teacher in the Fort Plain school district. He has coached football, basketball, softball, and baseball over the past 20 years. Coach Fureno was a three sport star at Mohawk High School excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. John spent several years playing semi-pro baseball for the St. Johnsville Saints as the team’s starting shortstop. He resides in Canajoharie, NY with his two sons Brady and Drew.

Assistant Coach: Sal Licari

Sal LicariSal Licari is in his 5th Year with the MVCC Baseball staff after a stellar playing career at Utica-Notre Dame and Division II power Erskine College in South Carolina. Sal brings a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm to the MVCC program. Coach Licari is the Hawks hitting instructor, strength training advisor, and catching instructor.

Assistant Coach: Dan Morgan

Dan MorganMorgan is a 2006 graduate of MVCC with an Associate´s degree in Business Management. During his time at MVCC he played 2 seasons for Coach Dave Warren as MVCC´s catcher. In 2006 Morgan helped guide MVCC to a Region III Final Four appearance and was also named tri-captain for the Hawks. Following graduation Morgan went on to St. John Fisher College to obtain his Bachelor´s degree in Business Management and in 2007 helped guide the Cardinals to the schools first ever NCAA tournament appearance. Morgan is a 2004 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School where he earned All-League Honors and All-CNY Honors. In 2003 Morgan was apart of the Syracuse Babe Ruth team, which went on to win the World Series in Jamestown, NY.

Pitching Advisor: Bob Cook, Owner Field of Dreams Sports Complex/ Professional Baseball Instructor

Bob played baseball at Notre Dame High School (3 years varsity) as a Pitcher and middle infielder. Bob also played two years at MVCC as a Pitcher and middle infielder. After two seasons with the Hawks Bob received a baseball scholarship to the University of New Haven where he was primarily a pitcher and back up middle infielder. After two seasons with the New Haven Chargers, Bob signed a professional contract with the Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northeast League. Bob is also certified as a baseball coach through New York State and Doyle Baseball Academy. Bob´s latest achievement is becoming a scout for the Cincinnati Reds. Bob is also a certified Personal trainer/ strength and conditioning coach through NSCA– CPT.

Hitting Advisor: Joe Milazzo

Joe Milazzo has been a baseball coach in the Mohawk Valley for 29 years. He coached American Legion Baseball with Adrean Post of Utica from 1979-1987 and from 2002-present. Joe was the Head Coach at Notre Dame High School from 1979-1987 and the assistant coach from 2002-present. He also coached at the collegiate level for Herkimer CCC in 1990 and Mohawk Valley CC from 1991-2001, leading the Hawks to two NJCAA World Series appearances. He has had a positive influence on hundreds of baseball players over the years including; Mark Lemke-Atlanta Braves, Joe Kelly-University of Georgia, Garrett Zyskowski-West Virginia, Houston Astros organization, Chris Ferguson-University of Jacksonville, Kevin Green-Florida Marlins organization, Josh Hagas-NY Mets, Jeremy Halpin-Baltimore Orioles organization. His influence on baseball in the Mohawk Valley has not only been at the high school and college levels, he has operated baseball camps for youth baseball players for over 20 years. Coach Milazzo will serve as the MVCC Hitting instructor where he will help the Hawks to continue their tradition of being one of the top hitting teams in the NJCAA Region III.
