Dislocated Workers

Losing a job is never easy! However, retraining for a new career can be exciting! Over the last 15 years Mohawk Valley Community College has retrained many dislocated workers for new careers. These individuals are now working in new fields. You will find that MVCC's student population consists of many adult students (age 25 or older) who have come back to school to begin a "new" career. Here at MVCC, we pride ourselves on encouraging and enhancing the success of an adult student's educational and personal experience. We are familiar with the "special" needs of returning adult students and, in particular, "dislocated workers".

The key to retraining successfully is choosing a program that is both interesting to you and marketable. It is imperative that you work closely with your local Working Solutions Office to review the Demand Occupation List for those occupations currently in high demand for your area. Researching these occupations will assist you in making the right decision for your future.
