Health Services Computer Lab
The modern healthcare environment demands that individuals be computer literate. Mohawk Valley Community College provides the student with the opportunity to experience the types of technology they will be working with in the health care setting.

The Health Services Computer Lab was established on the Utica campus in 2000. The Lab has 18 state-of-the-art computers with programs installed to provide supplemental instruction for Respiratory Care students. A scanner and colored printer are also available for the students use. The Rome campus has a designated area set aside for Health Services students with 2 computers and a printer.
The Health Services Computer Lab is managed by a Lab Assistant who provides guidance regarding basic computer skills and directs students to pertinent programs that will facilitate their learning. The faculty expect that students will use the computers to complete mandatory assignments in several respiratory courses. The computers can also accomplish Internet research, word processing and allow access to on-line courses.

The Health Services Computer Lab is open Monday through Saturday with morning, afternoon, and evening hours providing access for all students. The computer lab is staffed with work-study students who are enrolled in the Health Services programs at the college, when the Lab Assistant is not scheduled to supervise the lab.

Software available to provide supplemental instruction includes:
- computer practice credentialing exams including clinical simulations.
- computer programs in most topic areas of respiratory care: breathsounds, aerosol therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, oxygenation, and infection control - to name a few.
